HOTEL review: Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa (Arizona, USA)
Updated: Jan 19, 2021
This Christmas we decided to treat ourselves to something special and found this hidden Arizona gem for a Holiday getaway. Miraval Arizona resort and spa is by far the MOST EXPENSIVE hotel in Arizona (and one of the most expensive in the US). It's an inclusive destination with many special programs, culinary classes and delicious food. It's all about wellness and spiritual balance. But IS it REALLY WORTH the CRAZY price tag? We are sharing our room tour and review of the King Suite. Watch for yourself and share with friends. We'd love to know what you think.
Plus, a special BONUS TREASURE HUNT - if you live around - try to find our special gift card for you. Share it with us, would love to add you to our next vlog.

Room Type: King Suite
PROS
A clear mission and wellness concept to help guests unplug, be present and find balance in life.
Resort credit of $175 per night per person – can be used for Spa or special experiences like cooking classes, wine tasting etc.
Inclusive resort – food and non-alcoholic drinks included, half of the classes and experiences are free of charge
Delicious food. The chef has created a diverse menu to satisfy any taste. High quality ingredients, farm-to-table. All options are healthy (no fries here, sorry).
Free airport shuttle service
No-tip resort (all tips included)
Luxurious Bath products by Miraval.
Professional well-equipped fitness center.
WI-FI is available at all areas and is free of charge.
Free gated parking (only self-parking at this time)
Convenient luggage pick-up and drop off service.
3 pools to enjoy privacy.
Fireplace in the room was awesome! Combine that with a Nepal singing ball meditation.
400 acres of private land. The guests are spread out and busy with different classes and hikes, so it feels very private and quiet. One can really disconnect and relax.
Adults only resort.
CONS
High room price, extra resort fees + taxes. The price is set per person; therefore, each extra person almost doubles the price per night. Prices at standard rooms start at $900 per night per person or $1600 per night for a couple and could be as much as $3500 per night per person (or approximately $6000 per night / couple) in a private Villa.
The rooms are dated. This resort opened in 1995 and it feels like it needs some TLC (at least the king suite we stayed at).
The bed was too plush and felt extremely hot during the night.
Extra $20 delivery fee for in-room dining.
Even though the food was delicious, I wish desserts menu was better. Healthy does not mean “cookie” only. At least something chocolate would save it. (But they had one coffee gelato. Yay!)
Most classes and spa procedures were super limited and therefore fully booked, so we were left with not-so-interesting options.
Equine classes were limited to horse walking (and fully booked as well). Unfortunately, we could not go on a ride as we wanted.
The food was delicious, but the restaurant setting was way too casual.
No Christmas tree or any other Christmas décor. NONE. We expected some special Christmas dinner at least for Christmas Eve, but it was like any other random weekday. Super strange.
No housekeeping (temporary restriction). Room cleanliness could be improved.
TIPS:
Book for at least 2 nights.
Connect with Miraval concierge well in advance to book SPA and classes. Even though we booked two weeks in advance, most interesting experiences were not available to us.
Miraval is now part of Hyatt family. Book with Hyatt rewards program. The nights here count towards your elite status with Hyatt.
Overall experience: It was an interesting experience even though I am not sure if it is truly worth the high price tag? It’s definitely worth trying, especially if you pursue spirituality, wellness, yoga.
